Worst things about Sycamore nobody talks about

Curious what people think. I'm a remote worker and Household incomes average around $80,837 in Sycamore. Crime rate is something to consider -Sycamore sits at 121.2 per 100K. It's a a small town city with about 18,243 people. The suburbs are where most families end up. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. What would you do? The food scene here is surprisingly good. The food scene here is surprisingly good. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The weather takes some getting used to. The suburbs are where most families end up. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 9 years ago from Seattle and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: The market is competitive but not impossible. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Springfield. It's tough for what you get.

Jobs: The market is developing right now, especially in real estate. If you're in marketing you might struggle.

People: Generally excellent. It took about 18 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: solid. Tons of options if you like sushi.

Would recommend to anyone considering it..

My experience has been mostly positive. it was the best decision I ever made. The only thing I'd watch out for is cultural scene. Other than that, Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

I'm a social worker and I've found it's improved dramatically in recent years. The community is solid and there's always something going on.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 1-bedroom. it's been a really good experience overall. Compared to Minneapolis it's challenging.
