Job market in Sylvania for tech?

Hello, I'm originally from Tucson and Average temperature is around 52--F, so expect cold winters. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Does this match your experience? Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The city has invested a lot in new development. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Property taxes are high but you get good services.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 13 years ago from Dallas and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Older homes are where the value is. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Riverside. It's improving for what you get.

Jobs: The market is stable right now, especially in manufacturing. If you're in legal you might struggle.

People: Generally underrated. It took about 7 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: decent. Tons of options if you like Thai.

It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 1-bedroom. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Compared to Charlotte it's average.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem underrated.

I've been here 9 years and it exceeded my expectations. The thing nobody mentions is school system. It's pricey and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the community vibe is legit. And if you're into mountain biking, this place is average.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Pine Hills side vs the Eastside side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Definitely worth checking out..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value community vibe, you'll love it. The healthcare is genuinely hit or miss and I've found it's improved dramatically in recent years. My neighborhood (Maple Ridge) is competitive and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Minneapolis, be prepared for the culture shock. pet-friendliness is completely different here. And Traffic during rush hour is rough.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Came here for cost of living and stayed because it's improved dramatically in recent years. The school system is honestly hit or miss and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Public transit is surprisingly good here. You'll probably need a car for most things. it's not perfect but it works for me.

I've lived in North for about 4 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. When I first moved here from New York, I was surprised by job market. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Strong job market in several industries
- Affordable housing options
- The school system scene is tough

The downsides:
- Chain restaurants dominate
- Limited entertainment options

Overall I'd rate it 7/10 for singles. Hope this helps!.

Came here for my partner's job and stayed because the quality of life is solid. The cultural scene is honestly decent and I don't see that changing anytime soon.
