I'm retired and It's a a small town city with about 18,274 people. Homes are going for about $854,500 on average. The city has invested a lot in new development. What are your go-to spots? Looking forward to hearing from you all. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The weather takes some getting used to.

Moved here from Portland about 10 years ago. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Still getting used to school system but No regrets on my end..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a pharmacist who relocated here from San Diego about 9 years ago. The main reasons were weather and a fresh start.
Pros I've experienced:
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Good internet infrastructure
- Active local events and festivals
Cons that are real:
- Rising rent and home prices
- Urban sprawl is real
Financially, we've found it solid compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are stable, gas is challenging.
Socially, it's improved dramatically in recent years. Hope this helps!.
