What's it really like living in Syracuse?

Alright, Military spouse here. Median household income is $63,894, which feels about average for the area. With a population of 3,232, Syracuse is a small town. The weather takes some getting used to. The suburbs are where most families end up. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. It's not perfect, but the community is solid.

As someone who grew up here, it exceeded my expectations. A lot has changed in the past few years though. weather used to be much growing but now it's pretty good.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a writer who relocated here from Salt Lake City about 4 years ago. The main reasons were weather and weather.

Pros I've experienced:
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Active local events and festivals
- Four distinct seasons

Cons that are real:
- Limited high-paying job options
- Limited shopping options

Financially, we've found it solid compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are manageable, gas is hit or miss.

Socially, it's been a really good experience overall. No regrets on my end..

Used to live on the Lakewood side, now on the Fairview side. Completely different vibe. it's improved dramatically in recent years.
