Moving from Los Angeles to Tacoma next month

So, We're a young couple and It's a a mid-size city city with about 220K people. With a population of 220K, Tacoma is a mid-size city. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Would love some local perspective. Looking forward to hearing from you all. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse.

As someone who grew up here, it's been a really good experience overall. A lot has changed in the past few years though. traffic used to be much affordable but now it's hit or miss.

Came here for work and stayed because the quality of life is solid. The dating scene is honestly hit or miss and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

We moved here with our family and I have mixed feelings honestly. Schools in Fairview area are improving. Kids love it here.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem hit or miss.

I've been here 12 years and it's not perfect but it works for me. The thing nobody mentions is housing market. It's pricey and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the dating scene is legit. And if you're into surfing, this place is surprisingly good.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The South side vs the Meadowbrook side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Would recommend to anyone considering it..
