Tacoma vs Kansas City — which is better?

Curious what people think. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Should I be concerned?

I work in healthcare here and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The job market for my field is underrated. Hope this helps!.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 3 years ago from Tampa and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: The market is competitive but not impossible. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in The Heights. It's underrated for what you get.

Jobs: The market is pricey right now, especially in engineering. If you're in marketing you might struggle.

People: Generally average. It took about 15 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: better than expected. Tons of options if you like Southern.

Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Bought a house here in 2016 and there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Property values have gone up a bit since then.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a contractor who relocated here from Denver about 2 years ago. The main reasons were cost of living and a job opportunity.

Pros I've experienced:
- Good healthcare facilities
- Decent public transit for the size
- Strong job market in several industries

Cons that are real:
- Winters are long and cold
- Can feel isolated

Financially, we've found it excellent compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are manageable, gas is solid.

Socially, I have mixed feelings honestly. Hope this helps!.

Bought a house here in 2015 and I'm still on the fence after all this time. Property values have gone up a bit since then.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want job market, then yeah this place is great. But if cultural scene matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 4-bedroom. it's been a really good experience overall. Compared to Miami it's better than expected.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. it's improved dramatically in recent years. Internet is solid in most areas.
