Takoma Park quality of life -am I missing something?

Hello, Rent is about $1,388/month for a decent place. Worth the trade-offs? The suburbs are where most families end up.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a pharmacist who relocated here from Pittsburgh about 12 years ago. The main reasons were my partner's job and school.

Pros I've experienced:
- Good healthcare facilities
- Good airport with direct flights
- Diverse dining options

Cons that are real:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Limited high-paying job options

Financially, we've found it challenging compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are pricey, gas is average.

Socially, the quality of life is solid. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, it exceeded my expectations. It's not for everyone but it works for us..
