Anyone else feel this way? I'm a 48-year-old pharmacist and Average temperature is around 69°F, so the weather is moderate. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Anyone in a similar situation?

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a accountant who relocated here from Chicago about 9 years ago. The main reasons were a job opportunity and weather.
Pros I've experienced:
- Good schools in most areas
- Decent public transit for the size
- Lots of new development happening
Cons that are real:
- Summers can be brutally hot
- Far from beaches/mountains
Financially, we've found it surprisingly good compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are stable, gas is pretty good.
Socially, it's not perfect but it works for me. Good luck with whatever you decide..
