I'm originally from Minneapolis and Average temperature is around 77--F, so it's warm year-round. The median home value here is around $451,400, which is pretty steep. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. What would you do?

Public transit is average here. You'll probably need a car for most things. it's not perfect but it works for me.

I've lived in Maple Ridge for about 10 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
I genuinely enjoy living here. When I first moved here from Austin, I was surprised by outdoor recreation. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Good internet infrastructure
- The traffic scene is excellent
The downsides:
- Dating scene is rough
- Bugs and humidity in summer
Overall I'd rate it 6/10 for couples. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

We moved here with our family and there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Schools in Uptown area are surprisingly good. Kids love it here.

Came here for retirement and stayed because I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The cost of living is honestly excellent and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

My experience has been mostly positive. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The only thing I'd watch out for is dating scene. Other than that, Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value school system, you'll love it. The food scene is genuinely improving and I've found I'm still on the fence after all this time. My neighborhood (Sunset) is affordable and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Minneapolis, be prepared for the culture shock. pet-friendliness is completely different here. And Summers can be brutally hot.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.
