Born and raised here. The unemployment rate is 3.1%, which is pretty low. Average temperature is around 74°F, so it's warm year-round. It's changing fast — some good, some not so much. Any help is appreciated. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The suburbs are where most families end up. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem hit or miss.
I've been here 4 years and I love the pace of life here. The thing nobody mentions is healthcare. It's growing and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the dating scene is legit. And if you're into mountain biking, this place is solid.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Westside side vs the Midtown side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, I have mixed feelings honestly. Good luck with whatever you decide..

Hot take but I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. I know a lot of people disagree but after 4 years here, that's my honest assessment.

Came here for school and stayed because I genuinely enjoy living here. The cost of living is honestly challenging and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

I've lived in Westside for about 5 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
it was the best decision I ever made. When I first moved here from Tampa, I was surprised by public transit. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Good airport with direct flights
- Diverse dining options
- The weather scene is solid
The downsides:
- Rising rent and home prices
- Nightlife is limited
Overall I'd rate it 9/10 for retirees. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want cultural scene, then yeah this place is great. But if housing market matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

I'm a nurse and I've found there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The community is better than expected and there's always something going on.
