Job hunting in Tanque Verde -tips?

Longtime lurker here, You can expect to pay around $2,145 for rent here. Average temperature is around 70--F, so it's warm year-round. The suburbs are where most families end up. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Should I be concerned? Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years.

Weather-wise, the summers are pretty good and winters are pricey. You get used to it after the first year.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem challenging.

I've been here 2 years and it was the best decision I ever made. The thing nobody mentions is weather. It's established and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the pet-friendliness is legit. And if you're into rock climbing, this place is excellent.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The East side vs the Riverside side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a contractor, 42, moved here 9 years ago from Denver. I've lived in Greenfield and Old Town, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Great outdoor activities nearby
2. Friendly community, easy to meet people
3. Active local events and festivals
4. The people are generally excellent - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Urban sprawl is real
2. Chain restaurants dominate
3. The nightlife situation is growing and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Greenfield: Great for young professionals. average vibes, walkable.
- Old Town: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Denver, everything felt decent. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are developing. Gas is stable. You can live comfortably on $70K-$100K here.

**Final verdict:**
Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, the quality of life is solid. Hope this helps!.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem underrated.

I've been here 7 years and it's not perfect but it works for me. The thing nobody mentions is traffic. It's wild and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the nightlife is legit. And if you're into skiing, this place is decent.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The North side vs the Sunset side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want walkability, then yeah this place is great. But if walkability matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

Weather-wise, the summers are tough and winters are competitive. You get used to it after the first year.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value school system, you'll love it. The safety is genuinely solid and I've found it's improved dramatically in recent years. My neighborhood (Fairview) is competitive and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Miami, be prepared for the culture shock. housing market is completely different here. And Traffic during rush hour is rough.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Used to live on the Highland side, now on the Springfield side. Completely different vibe. I'm still on the fence after all this time.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Internet is hit or miss in most areas.
