Top 5 things I love about Tappan

Been meaning to ask this. Average temperature is around 53--F, so expect cold winters. It's a a small town city with about 6,704 people. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. The suburbs are where most families end up.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a software engineer who relocated here from Chicago about 11 years ago. The main reasons were cost of living and school.

Pros I've experienced:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Active local events and festivals
- Four distinct seasons

Cons that are real:
- Urban sprawl is real
- Not a lot of cultural diversity

Financially, we've found it better than expected compared to where we came from. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. Groceries are wild, gas is better than expected.

Socially, it's exactly what I was looking for. Hope this helps!.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem underrated.

I've been here 14 years and it was the best decision I ever made. The thing nobody mentions is weather. It's wild and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the traffic is legit. And if you're into running, this place is underrated.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Riverside side vs the Fairview side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Definitely worth checking out..
