Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a nurse who relocated here from Baltimore about 10 years ago. The main reasons were my partner's job and a job opportunity.
Pros I've experienced:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Lots of new development happening
- Diverse dining options
Cons that are real:
- Homeless population growing downtown
- Limited entertainment options
Financially, we've found it pretty good compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are pricey, gas is hit or miss.
Socially, I love the pace of life here. Definitely worth checking out..

Came here for weather and stayed because there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The safety is honestly surprisingly good and I don't see that changing anytime soon.
