Is public transit usable in Tarboro?

I've been here for 4 years and Crime rate is something to consider -Tarboro sits at 185.4 per 100K. The median home value here is around $155,500, which is actually reasonable. Poverty rate is 19.7%, which is higher than I expected. With a population of 10,705, Tarboro is a small town. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Am I wrong here? Any help is appreciated. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The city has invested a lot in new development. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Weather-wise, the summers are hit or miss and winters are pricey. You get used to it after the first year.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. it's not perfect but it works for me. Internet is solid in most areas.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in Oak Park for 6 years. Moved from Nashville for cost of living. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is better than expected. We bought in 2020 at k and it's now worth about the same than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 3-bed in a safe area. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts.

**Employment:**
healthcare is strong here. consulting is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are affordable for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
it's been a really good experience overall. The outdoor scene is underrated - we have hiking trails within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Oak Park schools are excellent. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Urban sprawl is real. Far from beaches/mountains. And nightlife can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For remote workers, I'd say this is a 6/10. Give it a chance - it might surprise you.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

I've been living here for 7 years and I'd say I'm still on the fence after all this time. The weather is better than expected compared to other places I've lived. Overall No regrets on my end..
