Been meaning to ask this. Born and raised here. With a population of 4,286, Tarentum is a small town. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value job market, you'll love it. The outdoor recreation is genuinely tough and I've found I love the pace of life here. My neighborhood (Cedar Grove) is affordable and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Dallas, be prepared for the culture shock. dating scene is completely different here. And Winters are long and cold.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.
