So, I'm originally from Kansas City and The median home value here is around $321,000, which seems about average. The weather takes some getting used to. Would love some local perspective. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a pharmacist who relocated here from Dallas about 15 years ago. The main reasons were work and my partner's job.
Pros I've experienced:
- Lots of new development happening
- Good internet infrastructure
- Good airport with direct flights
Cons that are real:
- Limited public transit options
- Urban sprawl is real
Financially, we've found it challenging compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are affordable, gas is decent.
Socially, it was the best decision I ever made. Happy to answer more specific questions..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value weather, you'll love it. The community vibe is genuinely average and I've found it's not perfect but it works for me. My neighborhood (East) is manageable and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Chicago, be prepared for the culture shock. food scene is completely different here. And Summers can be brutally hot.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

I've lived in The Heights for about 4 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
it exceeded my expectations. When I first moved here from Denver, I was surprised by job market. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Good internet infrastructure
- Active local events and festivals
- The school system scene is tough
The downsides:
- Limited high-paying job options
- Limited entertainment options
Overall I'd rate it 7/10 for remote workers. Happy to answer more specific questions..

We moved here with our family and there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Schools in Pine Hills area are tough. Kids love it here.
