How much do you pay for rent in Taylor?

I'm retired and Average temperature is around 51--F, so expect cold winters. The median home value here is around $141,200, which is actually reasonable. You can expect to pay around $1,036 for rent here. Rent is about $1,036/month for a decent place. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly.

Pros:
- Low crime in most areas
- Diverse community
- Lots of new development
- Active local events

Cons:
- Not very walkable
- Poor road conditions
- Far from major airports
- Homelessness issues downtown
Am I wrong here? Thanks in advance! Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The suburbs are where most families end up. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. I'd say it's better for families than young singles.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a marketing manager, 33, moved here 12 years ago from Miami. I've lived in East and Downtown, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Cost of living is very reasonable
2. Nice parks and green spaces
3. Lots of family-friendly activities
4. The people are generally surprisingly good - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Not a lot of cultural diversity
2. Road conditions need improvement
3. The job market situation is established and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- East: Great for singles. average vibes, walkable.
- Downtown: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Miami, everything felt hit or miss. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are manageable. Gas is reasonable. You can live comfortably on $40K-$140K here.

**Final verdict:**
It's not for everyone but it works for us.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.
