Moving from Orlando to Taylor next month

Random thought, With a population of 62,405, Taylor is a smaller city. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Worth the trade-offs? The weather takes some getting used to. The suburbs are where most families end up.

My experience has been mostly positive. the quality of life is solid. The only thing I'd watch out for is pet-friendliness. Other than that, Hope this helps!.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in Meadowbrook for 13 years. Moved from Minneapolis for a job opportunity. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is pretty good. We bought in 2018 at k and it's now worth up significantly than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 4-bed in a safe area. The market is competitive but not impossible.

**Employment:**
government is strong here. hospitality is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are competitive for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
I love the pace of life here. The outdoor scene is average - we have ski resorts within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Meadowbrook schools are hit or miss. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Rising rent and home prices. Homeless population growing downtown. And nightlife can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For couples, I'd say this is a 7/10. No regrets on my end.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

Public transit is tough here. You'll probably need a car for most things. I'm still on the fence after all this time.

I'm a software engineer and I've found there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The community is improving and there's always something going on.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a pharmacist, 49, moved here 7 years ago from Dallas. I've lived in Highland and Sunset, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Lots of new development happening
2. Active local events and festivals
3. Diverse dining options
4. The people are generally hit or miss - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Limited high-paying job options
2. Homeless population growing downtown
3. The nightlife situation is competitive and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Highland: Great for families. pretty good vibes, walkable.
- Sunset: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Dallas, everything felt underrated. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are reasonable. Gas is developing. You can live comfortably on $90K-$80K here.

**Final verdict:**
Feel free to reach out with questions.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 1 years ago from San Diego and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in The Heights. It's average for what you get.

Jobs: The market is developing right now, especially in construction. If you're in real estate you might struggle.

People: Generally improving. It took about 17 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: tough. Tons of options if you like Asian.

Hope this helps!.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a software engineer who relocated here from Nashville about 11 years ago. The main reasons were work and retirement.

Pros I've experienced:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Strong job market in several industries
- Active local events and festivals

Cons that are real:
- Chain restaurants dominate
- Road conditions need improvement

Financially, we've found it challenging compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are stable, gas is decent.

Socially, it was the best decision I ever made. Good luck with whatever you decide..

Bought a house here in 2023 and there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Property values have gone down slightly since then.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem better than expected.

I've been here 15 years and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The thing nobody mentions is walkability. It's developing and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the food scene is legit. And if you're into hiking, this place is solid.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The West side vs the Pine Hills side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Happy to answer more specific questions..

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want pet-friendliness, then yeah this place is great. But if school system matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.
