Curious what people think. Military spouse here. Household incomes average around $117,840 in Temecula. Rent is about $2,297/month for a decent place. The unemployment rate is 3.7%, which is pretty low. Median household income is $117,840, which feels pretty solid for the area. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Is this normal for Temecula? There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 15 years ago from Minneapolis and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Uptown. It's surprisingly good for what you get.
Jobs: The market is reasonable right now, especially in hospitality. If you're in marketing you might struggle.
People: Generally pretty good. It took about 12 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: solid. Tons of options if you like Southern.
Hope this helps!.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value housing market, you'll love it. The weather is genuinely excellent and I've found I'm still on the fence after all this time. My neighborhood (Old Town) is established and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Houston, be prepared for the culture shock. nightlife is completely different here. And Urban sprawl is real.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.
