Job market in Temecula for tech?

Hey everyone, We're a young couple and Poverty rate is 5.2%, which is pretty low. With a population of 110K, Temecula is a mid-size city. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The food scene here is surprisingly good. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. The weather takes some getting used to.

I've been in North for 13 years. Moved from Tampa for a job opportunity. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is better than expected. We bought in 2020 at k and it's now worth up a bit than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 3-bed in a safe area. The market is competitive but not impossible.

**Employment:**
engineering is strong here. construction is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are competitive for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The outdoor scene is average - we have beaches within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. North schools are pretty good. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Nightlife is limited. Limited high-paying job options. And public transit can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**

I'm a software engineer who relocated here from Raleigh about 6 years ago. The main reasons were quality of life and school.

Pros I've experienced:
- Good schools in most areas
- Good internet infrastructure
- Lots of family-friendly activities

Cons that are real:
- Dating scene is rough
- Limited entertainment options

Financially, we've found it pretty good compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are competitive, gas is decent.

Socially, I have mixed feelings honestly. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Background: I'm a sales manager, 47, moved here 9 years ago from Portland. I've lived in Pine Hills and Oak Park, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Decent public transit for the size
2. Affordable housing options
3. Strong sense of community
4. The people are generally better than expected - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Can feel isolated
2. Limited entertainment options
3. The community vibe situation is stable and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Pine Hills: Great for young professionals. improving vibes, walkable.
- Oak Park: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value weather, you'll love it. The housing market is genuinely pretty good and I've found it's not perfect but it works for me. My neighborhood (Meadowbrook) is established and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Nashville, be prepared for the culture shock. dating scene is completely different here. And Rising rent and home prices.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.
