Commute times in Temple Terrace -how bad?

Hey everyone, The median home value here is around $306,200, which seems about average. Rent is about $1,489/month for a decent place. It's a a smaller city city with about 26,922 people. Crime rate is something to consider -Temple Terrace sits at 265.7 per 100K. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The weather takes some getting used to.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is public transit. I genuinely enjoy living here. Worth doing your research before committing.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a marketing manager who relocated here from Raleigh about 5 years ago. The main reasons were quality of life and work.

Pros I've experienced:
- Good schools in most areas
- Good healthcare facilities
- Four distinct seasons

Cons that are real:
- Limited shopping options
- Dating scene is rough

Financially, we've found it challenging compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are pricey, gas is excellent.

Socially, it exceeded my expectations. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Public transit is challenging here. You'll probably need a car for most things. I love the pace of life here.

I'm a contractor who relocated here from Salt Lake City about 1 years ago. The main reasons were family and a fresh start.

Pros I've experienced:
- Lots of new development happening
- Active local events and festivals
- Strong sense of community

Cons that are real:
- Winters are long and cold
- Limited entertainment options

Financially, we've found it underrated compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are affordable, gas is tough.

Socially, the quality of life is solid. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

I'm a chef who relocated here from Charlotte about 5 years ago. The main reasons were a job opportunity and quality of life.

Pros I've experienced:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Good airport with direct flights
- Diverse dining options

Cons that are real:
- Not a lot of cultural diversity
- Dating scene is rough

Financially, we've found it average compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are developing, gas is decent.

Socially, it's exactly what I was looking for. Definitely worth checking out..

I'm a social worker who relocated here from Chicago about 7 years ago. The main reasons were my partner's job and my partner's job.

Pros I've experienced:
- Strong job market in several industries
- Affordable housing options
- Diverse dining options

Cons that are real:
- Nightlife is limited
- Bugs and humidity in summer

Financially, we've found it average compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are affordable, gas is decent.

Socially, it was the best decision I ever made. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

I've lived in Fairview for about 14 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

I have mixed feelings honestly. When I first moved here from Tampa, I was surprised by healthcare. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Good schools in most areas
- The housing market scene is hit or miss

The downsides:
- Limited high-paying job options
- Limited shopping options

Overall I'd rate it 6/10 for remote workers. No regrets on my end..
