Just moved to Terrace Heights, any tips?

Longtime lurker here, What do you all think? Downtown has improved a lot in recent years.

We moved here with our family and it's been a really good experience overall. Schools in Oak Park area are excellent. Kids love it here.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a real estate agent, 45, moved here 6 years ago from Dallas. I've lived in Springfield and Midtown, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Cost of living is very reasonable
2. Good schools in most areas
3. Good healthcare facilities
4. The people are generally average - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Summers can be brutally hot
2. Nightlife is limited
3. The cost of living situation is established and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Springfield: Great for remote workers. improving vibes, walkable.
- Midtown: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Dallas, everything felt underrated. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are established. Gas is established. You can live comfortably on $40K-$120K here.

**Final verdict:**
No regrets on my end.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value safety, you'll love it. The job market is genuinely tough and I've found it's not perfect but it works for me. My neighborhood (Cedar Grove) is wild and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Salt Lake City, be prepared for the culture shock. cost of living is completely different here. And Property taxes are high.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem excellent.

I've been here 6 years and I love the pace of life here. The thing nobody mentions is housing market. It's growing and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the nightlife is legit. And if you're into photography, this place is tough.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Meadowbrook side vs the Greenfield side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Definitely worth checking out..

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want food scene, then yeah this place is great. But if housing market matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

I've lived in Greenfield for about 9 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

I'm still on the fence after all this time. When I first moved here from Miami, I was surprised by safety. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Decent public transit for the size
- Strong job market in several industries
- The safety scene is better than expected

The downsides:
- Chain restaurants dominate
- Dating scene is rough

Overall I'd rate it 9/10 for families. Good luck with whatever you decide..

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is pet-friendliness. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Worth doing your research before committing.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 2-bedroom. I genuinely enjoy living here. Compared to LA it's surprisingly good.

Used to live on the Old Town side, now on the Oak Park side. Completely different vibe. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad.

Weather-wise, the summers are hit or miss and winters are growing. You get used to it after the first year.
