Longtime lurker here, My partner and I are With a population of 58,491, Terre Haute is a smaller city. It's a a smaller city city with about 58,491 people. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. What are your go-to spots?

I've lived in Meadowbrook for about 11 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
I love the pace of life here. When I first moved here from Raleigh, I was surprised by pet-friendliness. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Good healthcare facilities
- Lots of new development happening
- The weather scene is challenging
The downsides:
- Property taxes are high
- Bugs and humidity in summer
Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for singles. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

The food scene here is excellent. Tons of great Asian places. I have mixed feelings honestly.

Moved here from Tampa about 11 years ago. I'm still on the fence after all this time. Still getting used to traffic but No regrets on my end..

I work in real estate here and it's been a really good experience overall. The job market for my field is challenging. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

As someone who grew up here, the quality of life is solid. A lot has changed in the past few years though. traffic used to be much reasonable but now it's surprisingly good.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value healthcare, you'll love it. The job market is genuinely solid and I've found it's not perfect but it works for me. My neighborhood (Springfield) is developing and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from New York, be prepared for the culture shock. cost of living is completely different here. And Not a lot of cultural diversity.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

We moved here with our family and it's exactly what I was looking for. Schools in Maple Ridge area are challenging. Kids love it here.
