So, I grew up here but left for a while. You can expect to pay around $1,167 for rent here. Rent is about $1,167/month for a decent place. Property taxes are high but you get good services. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus.

Pros I've experienced:
- Decent public transit for the size
- Good airport with direct flights
- Strong sense of community
Cons that are real:
- Can feel isolated
- Limited entertainment options
Financially, we've found it challenging compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are established, gas is better than expected.
Socially, I have mixed feelings honestly. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 1 years ago from Seattle and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: The market is competitive but not impossible. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Eastside. It's improving for what you get.
Jobs: The market is pricey right now, especially in education. If you're in construction you might struggle.
People: Generally pretty good. It took about 6 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: pretty good. Tons of options if you like Thai.
No regrets on my end..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem underrated.
I've been here 10 years and it was the best decision I ever made. The thing nobody mentions is cost of living. It's stable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the public transit is legit. And if you're into hiking, this place is decent.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Meadowbrook side vs the Springfield side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
