Anyone regret moving to Terrytown?

Hey everyone, I'm a 43-year-old data analyst and With a population of 25,844, Terrytown is a smaller city. The unemployment rate is 5.0%, which is about average. Rent is about $1,065/month for a decent place. You can expect to pay around $1,065 for rent here. Crime rate is something to consider -Terrytown sits at 235.7 per 100K. The weather takes some getting used to. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Any advice would be great. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The food scene here is surprisingly good. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The food scene here is surprisingly good. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. The city has invested a lot in new development. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. The suburbs are where most families end up. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value weather, you'll love it. The community vibe is genuinely better than expected and I've found the quality of life is solid. My neighborhood (Midtown) is developing and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Houston, be prepared for the culture shock. nightlife is completely different here. And Not very walkable outside downtown.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

But if you're coming from Minneapolis, be prepared for the culture shock. food scene is completely different here. And Traffic during rush hour is rough.

I've been living here for 14 years and I'd say I genuinely enjoy living here. The job market is solid compared to other places I've lived. Overall Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

If you value cost of living, you'll love it. The safety is genuinely surprisingly good and I've found it's exactly what I was looking for. My neighborhood (Maple Ridge) is reasonable and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Phoenix, be prepared for the culture shock. school system is completely different here. And Urban sprawl is real.
