Things that make Terrytown unique

Hello, We have two kids and Average temperature is around 70--F, so it's warm year-round. The unemployment rate is 5.0%, which is about average. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. The food scene here is surprisingly good. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. The weather takes some getting used to. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The food scene here is surprisingly good.

Bought a house here in 2019 and it's been a really good experience overall. Property values have gone up a bit since then.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a sales manager who relocated here from LA about 11 years ago. The main reasons were retirement and a fresh start.

Pros I've experienced:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Good schools in most areas
- Strong job market in several industries

Cons that are real:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Not very walkable outside downtown

Financially, we've found it excellent compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are stable, gas is surprisingly good.

Socially, it was the best decision I ever made. Hope this helps!.
