As someone who grew up here, I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. A lot has changed in the past few years though. cultural scene used to be much competitive but now it's surprisingly good.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem underrated.
I've been here 15 years and it's improved dramatically in recent years. The thing nobody mentions is job market. It's wild and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the traffic is legit. And if you're into running, this place is decent.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The North side vs the Downtown side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

I'm a chef who relocated here from San Francisco about 5 years ago. The main reasons were family and a job opportunity.
Pros I've experienced:
- Good internet infrastructure
- Active local events and festivals
- Close to major attractions
Cons that are real:
- Summers can be brutally hot
- Urban sprawl is real
Financially, we've found it surprisingly good compared to where we came from. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. Groceries are growing, gas is tough.
Socially, I'm still on the fence after all this time. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value traffic, you'll love it. The public transit is genuinely improving and I've found the quality of life is solid. My neighborhood (Meadowbrook) is developing and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Salt Lake City, be prepared for the culture shock. nightlife is completely different here. And Road conditions need improvement.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

- Close to major attractions
- Diverse dining options
Cons that are real:
- Summers can be brutally hot
- Dating scene is rough
Financially, we've found it hit or miss compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are reasonable, gas is decent.
Socially, it's been a really good experience overall. It's not for everyone but it works for us..
