Job market in Texarkana for tech?

Longtime lurker here, Household incomes average around $49,240 in Texarkana. Rent is about $990/month for a decent place. Median household income is $49,240, which feels on the lower side for the area. The median home value here is around $159,700, which is actually reasonable. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. The food scene here is surprisingly good. The weather takes some getting used to. The city has invested a lot in new development. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The city has invested a lot in new development. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood.

Public transit is average here. You'll probably need a car for most things. it's not perfect but it works for me.

I've lived in Springfield for about 14 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

I genuinely enjoy living here. When I first moved here from New York, I was surprised by housing market. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- The cost of living scene is hit or miss

The downsides:
- Chain restaurants dominate
- Homeless population growing downtown

Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for singles. Happy to answer more specific questions..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a lawyer who relocated here from Miami about 12 years ago. The main reasons were my partner's job and cost of living.

Pros I've experienced:
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Good airport with direct flights
- Strong sense of community

Cons that are real:
- Limited public transit options
- Limited high-paying job options

Financially, we've found it underrated compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are developing, gas is tough.

Socially, I have mixed feelings honestly. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is job market. I love the pace of life here. Worth doing your research before committing.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a project manager, 53, moved here 7 years ago from Tampa. I've lived in Westside and Highland, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Friendly community, easy to meet people
2. Good airport with direct flights
3. Lots of family-friendly activities
4. The people are generally hit or miss - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Winters are long and cold
2. Property taxes are high
3. The safety situation is established and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Westside: Great for couples. decent vibes, walkable.
- Highland: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Tampa, everything felt underrated. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are wild. Gas is stable. You can live comfortably on $50K-$100K here.

**Final verdict:**
It's not for everyone but it works for us.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.
