How are the schools in Texas City?

Hey, I'm single, late 30s, and The unemployment rate is 4.6%, which is about average. You can expect to pay around $1,200 for rent here. Poverty rate is 15.0%, which is around average. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. What are your go-to spots? The suburbs are where most families end up. The city has invested a lot in new development. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. The weather takes some getting used to. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The suburbs are where most families end up. OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 15 years ago from Boston and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Lots of new construction which should help. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Greenfield. It's surprisingly good for what you get.

Jobs: The market is developing right now, especially in hospitality. If you're in government you might struggle.

People: Generally surprisingly good. It took about 16 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: average. Tons of options if you like Thai.

Feel free to reach out with questions..

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in East for 9 years. Moved from Denver for quality of life. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is hit or miss. We bought in 2024 at k and it's now worth up significantly than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 1-bed in a safe area. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals.

**Employment:**
real estate is strong here. hospitality is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are wild for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
I genuinely enjoy living here. The outdoor scene is pretty good - we have mountains within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. East schools are underrated. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Homeless population growing downtown. Limited entertainment options. And cost of living can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For families, I'd say this is a 8/10. Would recommend to anyone considering it.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.
