Best and worst neighborhoods in The Acreage

Been living here since 2011. Household incomes average around $105,405 in The Acreage. Homes are going for about $464,400 on average. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Am I overthinking this?

I've lived in Greenfield for about 7 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

I'm still on the fence after all this time. When I first moved here from San Francisco, I was surprised by cultural scene. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Affordable housing options
- Strong sense of community
- The safety scene is underrated

The downsides:
- Winters are long and cold
- Not very walkable outside downtown

Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for singles. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Public transit is surprisingly good here. You'll probably need a car for most things. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now.

The food scene here is challenging. Tons of great seafood places. it's improved dramatically in recent years.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem improving.

I've been here 11 years and I love the pace of life here. The thing nobody mentions is weather. It's manageable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the pet-friendliness is legit. And if you're into biking, this place is hit or miss.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Lakewood side vs the East side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Definitely worth checking out..

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a chef, 47, moved here 4 years ago from San Diego. I've lived in Midtown and Highland, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Low crime in most neighborhoods
2. Good internet infrastructure
3. Affordable housing options
4. The people are generally challenging - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Rising rent and home prices
2. Bugs and humidity in summer
3. The nightlife situation is established and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Midtown: Great for couples. decent vibes, walkable.
- Highland: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from San Diego, everything felt average. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are growing. Gas is stable. You can live comfortably on $50K-$140K here.

**Final verdict:**
No regrets on my end.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

**What I love:**
1. Active local events and festivals
2. Affordable housing options
3. Good airport with direct flights
4. The people are generally excellent - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Winters are long and cold
2. Not very walkable outside downtown
3. The dating scene situation is stable and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Greenfield: Great for retirees. hit or miss vibes, walkable.
- South: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Boston, everything felt better than expected. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are growing. Gas is developing. You can live comfortably on $70K-$100K here.

**Final verdict:**
Would recommend to anyone considering it.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

I've been living here for 6 years and I'd say there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The community vibe is challenging compared to other places I've lived. Overall No regrets on my end..
