Moving from Boston to The Acreage next month

Alright, Just moved here 16 months ago and With a population of 40,188, The Acreage is a smaller city. Poverty rate is 2.3%, which is pretty low. Crime rate is something to consider -The Acreage sits at 268.7 per 100K. The food scene here is surprisingly good. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. The food scene here is surprisingly good.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, I'm still on the fence after all this time. Definitely worth checking out..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value public transit, you'll love it. The public transit is genuinely decent and I've found it exceeded my expectations. My neighborhood (The Heights) is stable and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Tampa, be prepared for the culture shock. school system is completely different here. And Rising rent and home prices.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 4-bedroom. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Compared to Austin it's underrated.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 7 years ago from LA and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Lakewood. It's hit or miss for what you get.

Jobs: The market is developing right now, especially in government. If you're in finance you might struggle.

People: Generally tough. It took about 15 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: tough. Tons of options if you like Vietnamese.

Good luck with whatever you decide..

I work in government here and I'm still on the fence after all this time. The job market for my field is solid. Hope this helps!.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are better than expected, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

Bought a house here in 2022 and there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Property values have gone about the same since then.

Moved here from Miami about 13 years ago. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Still getting used to weather but Happy to answer more specific questions..
