Unpopular opinion about The Colony

Random thought, Born and raised here. Poverty rate is 4.1%, which is pretty low. Average temperature is around 65--F, so the weather is moderate. The city has invested a lot in new development. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. I've lived in Sunset for about 7 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

I'm still on the fence after all this time. When I first moved here from Pittsburgh, I was surprised by public transit. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Good airport with direct flights
- The safety scene is tough

The downsides:
- Can feel isolated
- Homeless population growing downtown

Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for remote workers. Hope this helps!.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value public transit, you'll love it. The cost of living is genuinely challenging and I've found I love the pace of life here. My neighborhood (Old Town) is pricey and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from San Diego, be prepared for the culture shock. school system is completely different here. And Not a lot of cultural diversity.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

As someone who grew up here, it exceeded my expectations. A lot has changed in the past few years though. school system used to be much developing but now it's underrated.
