Hi all, We're a young couple and Poverty rate is 4.0%, which is pretty low. With a population of 22,359, The Crossings is a small town. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Is this normal for The Crossings?

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem pretty good.
I've been here 10 years and the quality of life is solid. The thing nobody mentions is job market. It's competitive and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the public transit is legit. And if you're into mountain biking, this place is surprisingly good.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Greenfield side vs the Springfield side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Would recommend to anyone considering it..

I've lived in Cedar Grove for about 2 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
I'm still on the fence after all this time. When I first moved here from Tampa, I was surprised by pet-friendliness. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Close to major attractions
- The outdoor recreation scene is pretty good
The downsides:
- Nightlife is limited
- Dating scene is rough
Overall I'd rate it 9/10 for couples. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 10 years ago from Pittsburgh and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: The market is competitive but not impossible. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in East. It's decent for what you get.
Jobs: The market is stable right now, especially in marketing. If you're in manufacturing you might struggle.
People: Generally excellent. It took about 7 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: solid. Tons of options if you like craft beer.
It's not for everyone but it works for us..

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.
Background: I'm a lawyer, 46, moved here 10 years ago from Dallas. I've lived in Oak Park and Springfield, and traveled to most parts of the metro.
**What I love:**
1. Lots of new development happening
2. Good internet infrastructure
3. Active local events and festivals
4. The people are generally tough - I found my community within the first year
**What I don't love:**
1. Not a lot of cultural diversity
2. Limited shopping options
3. The outdoor recreation situation is established and doesn't seem to be improving
**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Oak Park: Great for young professionals. decent vibes, walkable.
- Springfield: More affordable, family-friendly.
**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.
**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Dallas, everything felt solid. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are competitive. Gas is pricey. You can live comfortably on $80K-$140K here.
**Final verdict:**
Hope this helps!. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.
