Co-working spaces in The Dalles?

First post here. We have two kids and Crime rate is something to consider -The Dalles sits at 177.8 per 100K. Average temperature is around 54--F, so expect cold winters. Poverty rate is 4.4%, which is pretty low. With a population of 15,973, The Dalles is a small town. The weather takes some getting used to. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Am I overthinking this? I'd say it's better for families than young singles. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The city has invested a lot in new development. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a project manager who relocated here from Charlotte about 13 years ago. The main reasons were quality of life and weather.

Pros I've experienced:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Good schools in most areas
- Lots of new development happening

Cons that are real:
- Rising rent and home prices
- Chain restaurants dominate

Financially, we've found it challenging compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are competitive, gas is challenging.

Socially, I love the pace of life here. Happy to answer more specific questions..

I've lived in Maple Ridge for about 12 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it's improved dramatically in recent years. When I first moved here from San Francisco, I was surprised by cultural scene. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Affordable housing options
- The traffic scene is decent

The downsides:
- Property taxes are high
- Chain restaurants dominate

Overall I'd rate it 7/10 for families. Hope this helps!.
