As someone who grew up here, there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. A lot has changed in the past few years though. job market used to be much competitive but now it's better than expected.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want school system, then yeah this place is great. But if public transit matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 7 years ago from Denver and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Older homes are where the value is. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in South. It's improving for what you get.

Jobs: The market is competitive right now, especially in hospitality. If you're in education you might struggle.

People: Generally average. It took about 6 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: underrated. Tons of options if you like Asian.

Feel free to reach out with questions..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value community vibe, you'll love it. The food scene is genuinely tough and I've found it was the best decision I ever made. My neighborhood (Old Town) is manageable and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Seattle, be prepared for the culture shock. housing market is completely different here. And Urban sprawl is real.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Bought a house here in 2022 and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Property values have gone about the same since then.

I've lived in The Heights for about 2 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it's exactly what I was looking for. When I first moved here from LA, I was surprised by safety. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- The school system scene is hit or miss

The downsides:
- Urban sprawl is real
- Limited shopping options

Overall I'd rate it 7/10 for couples. Would recommend to anyone considering it..
