Been meaning to ask this. We have two kids and With a population of 82,108, The Villages is a smaller city. Household incomes average around $76,523 in The Villages. Median household income is $76,523, which feels about average for the area. It's a a smaller city city with about 82,108 people. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The weather takes some getting used to. Worth the trade-offs? It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The suburbs are where most families end up.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.
I've been in Sunset for 11 years. Moved from Pittsburgh for a fresh start. Here's my honest, detailed take:
**Housing:**
The market right now is pretty good. We bought in 2019 at k and it's now worth about the same than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 4-bed in a safe area. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals.
**Employment:**
tech is strong here. legal is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are reasonable for the area.
**Quality of Life:**
it's improved dramatically in recent years. The outdoor scene is challenging - we have biking trails within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.
**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Sunset schools are improving. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.
**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Urban sprawl is real. Homeless population growing downtown. And community vibe can be frustrating.
**Bottom line:**
For families, I'd say this is a 9/10. Hope this helps!. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

Bought a house here in 2019 and there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Property values have gone up a bit since then.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a pharmacist who relocated here from Boston about 8 years ago. The main reasons were school and weather.
Pros I've experienced:
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Strong job market in several industries
- Affordable housing options
Cons that are real:
- Road conditions need improvement
- Limited entertainment options
Financially, we've found it average compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are stable, gas is solid.
Socially, I love the pace of life here. Hope this helps!.
