So, Poverty rate is 3.7%, which is pretty low. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Am I wrong here? Thanks for reading. The food scene here is surprisingly good. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The weather takes some getting used to. The weather takes some getting used to.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 10 years ago from Atlanta and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Older homes are where the value is. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Springfield. It's better than expected for what you get.
Jobs: The market is stable right now, especially in real estate. If you're in legal you might struggle.
People: Generally solid. It took about 10 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: underrated. Tons of options if you like BBQ.
Definitely worth checking out..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem improving.
I've been here 11 years and it's exactly what I was looking for. The thing nobody mentions is outdoor recreation. It's competitive and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the safety is legit. And if you're into biking, this place is underrated.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Highland side vs the Sunset side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
