Hey everyone, I'm a 24-year-old physical therapist and Rent is about $1,792/month for a decent place. Average temperature is around 71--F, so it's warm year-round. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. The food scene here is surprisingly good. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much.

We moved here with our family and I have mixed feelings honestly. Schools in Old Town area are underrated. Kids love it here.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 12 years ago from Tampa and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Lakewood. It's tough for what you get.
Jobs: The market is manageable right now, especially in construction. If you're in retail you might struggle.
People: Generally hit or miss. It took about 18 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: underrated. Tons of options if you like Korean.
Would recommend to anyone considering it..

I've lived in Sunset for about 15 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
it exceeded my expectations. When I first moved here from Tampa, I was surprised by food scene. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- The weather scene is hit or miss
The downsides:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Far from beaches/mountains
Overall I'd rate it 7/10 for singles. Hope this helps!.
