Random thought, The unemployment rate is 6.6%, which is concerning. Poverty rate is 11.5%, which is around average. Crime rate is something to consider -Thompsonville sits at 119.1 per 100K. The median home value here is around $235,200, which is actually reasonable. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. The weather takes some getting used to. Has anyone dealt with this? The suburbs are where most families end up. The food scene here is surprisingly good. The weather takes some getting used to. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus.

I've lived in East for about 13 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
the quality of life is solid. When I first moved here from Denver, I was surprised by food scene. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Good healthcare facilities
- Affordable housing options
- The outdoor recreation scene is pretty good
The downsides:
- Nightlife is limited
- Can feel isolated
Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for singles. Feel free to reach out with questions..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 5 years ago from LA and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Uptown. It's underrated for what you get.
Jobs: The market is pricey right now, especially in government. If you're in healthcare you might struggle.
People: Generally pretty good. It took about 15 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: pretty good. Tons of options if you like seafood.
