I grew up here but left for a while. Poverty rate is 10.9%, which is around average. The unemployment rate is 3.8%, which is pretty low. Median household income is $67,447, which feels about average for the area. The city has invested a lot in new development. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Does this match your experience? I'd say it's better for families than young singles. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The suburbs are where most families end up. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The food scene here is surprisingly good. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want school system, then yeah this place is great. But if safety matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 10 years ago from Atlanta and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: The market is competitive but not impossible. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Westside. It's pretty good for what you get.
Jobs: The market is stable right now, especially in healthcare. If you're in consulting you might struggle.
People: Generally excellent. It took about 11 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: improving. Tons of options if you like Mexican.
No regrets on my end..

Hot take but there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. I know a lot of people disagree but after 15 years here, that's my honest assessment.

I've been living here for 2 years and I'd say it's been a really good experience overall. The food scene is hit or miss compared to other places I've lived. Overall Hope this helps!.
