Hey everyone, We're a young couple and Household incomes average around $67,447 in Thonotosassa. You can expect to pay around $1,129 for rent here. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Worth the trade-offs?

Hot take but there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. I know a lot of people disagree but after 10 years here, that's my honest assessment.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a electrician who relocated here from Pittsburgh about 7 years ago. The main reasons were work and a job opportunity.
Pros I've experienced:
- Decent public transit for the size
- Strong job market in several industries
- Strong sense of community
Cons that are real:
- Property taxes are high
- Dating scene is rough
Financially, we've found it challenging compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are pricey, gas is solid.
Socially, it's not perfect but it works for me. Good luck with whatever you decide..

Bought a house here in 2022 and it's improved dramatically in recent years. Property values have gone up a bit since then.

My experience has been mostly positive. it's been a really good experience overall. The only thing I'd watch out for is traffic. Other than that, No regrets on my end..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem underrated.
I've been here 8 years and it's improved dramatically in recent years. The thing nobody mentions is housing market. It's stable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the dating scene is legit. And if you're into running, this place is excellent.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Highland side vs the Cedar Grove side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Hope this helps!.

I've lived in Westside for about 4 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
it's not perfect but it works for me. When I first moved here from Miami, I was surprised by walkability. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Lots of new development happening
- The school system scene is decent
The downsides:
- Limited shopping options
- Far from beaches/mountains
Overall I'd rate it 9/10 for singles. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.
Background: I'm a project manager, 25, moved here 4 years ago from Seattle. I've lived in West and North, and traveled to most parts of the metro.
**What I love:**
1. Cost of living is very reasonable
2. Strong job market in several industries
3. Diverse dining options
4. The people are generally challenging - I found my community within the first year
**What I don't love:**
1. Not very walkable outside downtown
2. Can feel isolated
3. The job market situation is competitive and doesn't seem to be improving
**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- West: Great for young professionals. decent vibes, walkable.
- North: More affordable, family-friendly.
**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.
**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Seattle, everything felt surprisingly good. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are pricey. Gas is manageable. You can live comfortably on $70K-$110K here.
**Final verdict:**
Feel free to reach out with questions.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, it exceeded my expectations. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

I've been here 10 years and I genuinely enjoy living here. The thing nobody mentions is food scene. It's affordable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the dating scene is legit. And if you're into rock climbing, this place is underrated.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is dating scene. the quality of life is solid. Worth doing your research before committing.
