Is Thornton a good place to live?

Hey everyone, You can expect to pay around $1,810 for rent here. The weather takes some getting used to. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Does this match your experience? Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods.

Bought a house here in 2016 and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Property values have gone up a bit since then.

Public transit is average here. You'll probably need a car for most things. it's improved dramatically in recent years.

My experience has been mostly positive. it's been a really good experience overall. The only thing I'd watch out for is job market. Other than that, Definitely worth checking out..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 11 years ago from New York and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Lots of new construction which should help. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Lakewood. It's better than expected for what you get.

Jobs: The market is manageable right now, especially in legal. If you're in hospitality you might struggle.

People: Generally decent. It took about 3 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: pretty good. Tons of options if you like Italian.

It's not for everyone but it works for us..

The food scene here is hit or miss. Tons of great seafood places. it was the best decision I ever made.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want weather, then yeah this place is great. But if pet-friendliness matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem surprisingly good.

I've been here 15 years and it's not perfect but it works for me. The thing nobody mentions is healthcare. It's reasonable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the school system is legit. And if you're into mountain biking, this place is surprisingly good.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Downtown side vs the Maple Ridge side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Hope this helps!.
