Is Thornton a good place to retire?

My wife and I are planning to retire in the next few years. We're considering Thornton because of lower cost of living. Weather is moderate — about 49F average.

Cost of living looks pretty reasonable. How's the healthcare situation? Any retiree communities?

I've lived in Highland Park for 4 years and it's still one of the best decisions I made.

Downtown is overrated and overpriced. The suburbs offer way better value.

The food scene here is seriously underrated. So many great restaurants.

I'd add that the school system has been improving steadily. Otherwise spot on!

Coming from LA, the cost of living difference is noticeable. Groceries and gas are cheaper.

I've lived in Downtown for 10 years and it's decent, has its pros and cons.

Can confirm the safety issue. But it really depends on the neighborhood. Pine Grove and Downtown are perfectly safe.

For families, I'd recommend looking at Midtown. Schools are rated well and it's quiet.

I work in education and finding a job wasn't hard. Took about 6 months.
