Random thought, I'm a remote worker and Poverty rate is 4.8%, which is pretty low. The median home value here is around $482,200, which is pretty steep. You can expect to pay around $1,810 for rent here. Median household income is $100,985, which feels pretty solid for the area. The city has invested a lot in new development. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Would love some local perspective. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, I genuinely enjoy living here. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Used to live on the Downtown side, now on the Sunset side. Completely different vibe. it's exactly what I was looking for.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. it exceeded my expectations. Internet is average in most areas.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem decent.
I've been here 2 years and I genuinely enjoy living here. The thing nobody mentions is outdoor recreation. It's developing and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the dating scene is legit. And if you're into camping, this place is improving.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Maple Ridge side vs the South side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value cost of living, you'll love it. The pet-friendliness is genuinely surprisingly good and I've found I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. My neighborhood (West) is pricey and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Pittsburgh, be prepared for the culture shock. housing market is completely different here. And Limited high-paying job options.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.
