Worst things about Thornton nobody talks about

I'm a 41-year-old sales rep and You can expect to pay around $1,810 for rent here. Average temperature is around 49°F, so expect cold winters. With a population of 143K, Thornton is a mid-size city. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. It's not perfect, but the community is solid.

Pros:
- Good schools
- Low taxes
- Lots of new development
- Active local events

Cons:
- Hot summers
- Not very walkable
- Homelessness issues downtown
Any advice would be great. The city has invested a lot in new development. The food scene here is surprisingly good. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a data analyst who relocated here from Charlotte about 8 years ago. The main reasons were my partner's job and work.

Pros I've experienced:
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Good healthcare facilities
- Close to major attractions

Cons that are real:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Winters are long and cold

Financially, we've found it surprisingly good compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are pricey, gas is surprisingly good.

Socially, it's improved dramatically in recent years. No regrets on my end..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 14 years ago from Houston and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: The market is competitive but not impossible. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Eastside. It's solid for what you get.

Jobs: The market is stable right now, especially in retail. If you're in real estate you might struggle.

People: Generally underrated. It took about 6 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: excellent. Tons of options if you like seafood.

Hope this helps!.
