Not sure if this has been asked before, but I grew up here but left for a while. Rent is about $2,580/month for a decent place. Average temperature is around 62°F, so the weather is moderate. Median household income is $134,367, which feels pretty solid for the area. It's a a mid-size city city with about 126K people. The suburbs are where most families end up. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. It's changing fast — some good, some not so much. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The weather takes some getting used to. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look.

Hot take but there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. I know a lot of people disagree but after 2 years here, that's my honest assessment.

I've been living here for 6 years and I'd say it exceeded my expectations. The cultural scene is decent compared to other places I've lived. Overall Hope this helps!.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 4-bedroom. I'm still on the fence after all this time. Compared to Baltimore it's improving.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value cultural scene, you'll love it. The dating scene is genuinely pretty good and I've found it's exactly what I was looking for. My neighborhood (West) is established and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Miami, be prepared for the culture shock. school system is completely different here. And Limited public transit options.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a data analyst who relocated here from Dallas about 2 years ago. The main reasons were a job opportunity and weather.
Pros I've experienced:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Good schools in most areas
- Close to major attractions
Cons that are real:
- Winters are long and cold
- Nightlife is limited
Financially, we've found it challenging compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are wild, gas is decent.
Socially, it's been a really good experience overall. Would recommend to anyone considering it..
