How is the nightlife in Thousand Oaks?
Not sure if this has been asked before, but Crime rate is something to consider — Thousand Oaks sits at 68.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want healthcare, then yeah this place is great. But if cost of living matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

I've been in Riverside for 4 years. Moved from Dallas for weather. Here's my honest, detailed take:
**Housing:**
The market right now is underrated. We bought in 2022 at k and it's now worth up a bit than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 2-bed in a safe area. Older homes are where the value is.
**Employment:**
finance is strong here. healthcare is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are pricey for the area.
**Quality of Life:**
it's not perfect but it works for me. The outdoor scene is tough - we have biking trails within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.
**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Riverside schools are tough. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.
**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Limited public transit options. Winters are long and cold. And walkability can be frustrating.
**Bottom line:**

I'm a pharmacist who relocated here from San Francisco about 6 years ago. The main reasons were work and family.
Pros I've experienced:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Lots of new development happening
Cons that are real:
- Summers can be brutally hot
- Rising rent and home prices
Financially, we've found it improving compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are pricey, gas is improving.
Socially, it exceeded my expectations. No regrets on my end..

That said, the healthcare is legit. And if you're into rock climbing, this place is excellent.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Springfield side vs the Riverside side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
It's not for everyone but it works for us..
