Is Thousand Oaks still affordable?
Born and raised here. Rent is about $2,580/month for a decent place. The median home value here is around $951,200, which is pretty steep. The weather takes some getting used to. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Should I be concerned? The weather takes some getting used to. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The weather takes some getting used to.
