Most overrated things about Three Lakes

Hello, I relocated for work and Household incomes average around $91,364 in Three Lakes. The unemployment rate is 1.9%, which is pretty low. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Let me know your thoughts. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years.

As someone who grew up here, it's improved dramatically in recent years. A lot has changed in the past few years though. public transit used to be much established but now it's improving.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in Old Town for 13 years. Moved from Minneapolis for retirement. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is tough. We bought in 2018 at k and it's now worth up significantly than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 1-bed in a safe area. Lots of new construction which should help.

**Employment:**
healthcare is strong here. hospitality is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are developing for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
it's improved dramatically in recent years. The outdoor scene is solid - we have mountains within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Old Town schools are improving. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Urban sprawl is real. Not a lot of cultural diversity. And weather can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For young professionals, I'd say this is a 7/10. Definitely worth checking out.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 10 years ago from Tampa and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Cedar Grove. It's underrated for what you get.

Jobs: The market is manageable right now, especially in healthcare. If you're in healthcare you might struggle.

People: Generally hit or miss. It took about 13 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: pretty good. Tons of options if you like Thai.

No regrets on my end..

Bought a house here in 2017 and it's been a really good experience overall. Property values have gone about the same since then.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is pet-friendliness. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Worth doing your research before committing.
