First post here. I've been here for 9 years and Homes are going for about $161,700 on average. Median household income is $44,324, which feels on the lower side for the area. The suburbs are where most families end up. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. The city has invested a lot in new development. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Property taxes are high but you get good services. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look.

I work in retail here and I have mixed feelings honestly. The job market for my field is surprisingly good. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a software engineer who relocated here from Dallas about 14 years ago. The main reasons were a fresh start and school.
Pros I've experienced:
- Decent public transit for the size
- Good internet infrastructure
- Lots of family-friendly activities
Cons that are real:
- Chain restaurants dominate
- Limited entertainment options
Financially, we've found it average compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are wild, gas is decent.
Socially, it's exactly what I was looking for. Happy to answer more specific questions..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem hit or miss.
I've been here 13 years and there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The thing nobody mentions is food scene. It's wild and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the dating scene is legit. And if you're into camping, this place is improving.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Greenfield side vs the Maple Ridge side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
